Director Spotlight

The Sergio Sollima Collection

Alongside Leone and Corbucci, Sergio Sollima forms the trinity of great directors of the Spaghetti Western. He made only three westerns, but each is a masterpiece of political critique and high-stakes action.

While Sergio Leone was the stylist and Sergio Corbucci was the brutal pessimist, Sergio Sollima was the intellectual of the Spaghetti Western. He used his films to explore complex themes of class warfare, justice, and the corruption of power, without ever losing sight of the genre's action-thriller roots.

Sollima's trilogy consists of The Big Gundown, Face to Face, and Run, Man, Run. Featuring the iconic peasant thief Cuchillo (played brilliantly by Tomas Milian), Sollima's films remain the gold standard for politically charged action cinema.
