“A bleak masterpiece about an alcoholic, washed-up gunfighter pursued by assassins. It deconstructs the 'legend' myth brutally. One of the most depressing and powerful films in the genre.”
Why This Movie Is Important
A psychological deconstruction of the gunfighter. The hero is an alcoholic wreck, terrified of his own reputation. It is a sad, realistic look at the cost of living by the gun, stripping away all glamour.
